I wish I wasn't so late in the development process that I could add this in as basekit, aside from "Dodge" being a basekit reaction. This is good design space for feats though - maybe a Sadist rework? Or a "Dreadmonger" feat.
Tabletop and TTRPG game mechanic tip: a lot of games have dice rolls where the outcome is "nothing happens". I attack, your armour stops it. I cast charm, you resist it. I go to cast a spell and fail so nothing happens.
Consider this- "nothing happens" is boring.
