I think the the modern obsession with manga accuracy has had a pretty negative impact on anime in general. OVAs especially are a medium I think excelled a lot because of being able to fuck around and do whatever and that kind of restrictive mentality does not suit them...

It looks nice, the Gouf Custom fight was kind of cool and people like the "grittier" vibe

Absence of Giant Robo is probably the big weird one here, less even in that's it's a personal fave and more in that I actually would have it was more popular than somethings on this list...
