Took this one earlier this year in SW PA
Historical sign outside Pittsburg. It reads: HOMESTEAD STRIKE On the morning of July 6, 1892, on orders of the Carnegie Steel Co.. 300 Pinkerton agents attempted to land near here: strikers, citizens repulsed them. Seven workers, three Pinker-tons were killed. 8,000 state militia arrived July 12; by November the strike was broken.

Hello All, I am sorry to say that Pie Time is going out of business. We will be winding down food production at the end of the month and moving o a cottee shop only model while we tind a lessee for the space. We vill be open 7 days from 7-12 with our drinks and coffee service biscuits, cookies, and parfaits. The tood business is a hard, rewarding, and as wild as everyone says it is. You have to do everything right, have a great product, and a sprinkle of magic or luck. With business mistakes and a dollop of bad luck, here we are. I want to thank our staff past and present for creating wonderful products and service, making Pie Time what it is at its best. I am SO roud of the products we made together; we made everything from scratch! We served the best darn lattes in the city! We ottered ful cafe service at farmers markets! We started as a farmers market operation in 2015 with $5k and an old pickup truck! We built a real community coffee shop! We have laughed and cried with our neighbors and regulars, fed and caffeinated them, and served this neighborhood the best we could. Thank you SO much for being part of this time and story. Thank you to my parents, extended family, friends, and my current and former partners. You believed in me, supported Pie Time, and held my hand through this chapter beginning to end. Thank you to our suppliers and coffee partners! It has been a privilege to work with such great ingredients and we have been proud to serve them. Thank you to our farmers market customers (or "O C's" of Pie Time), getting to know you on the weekends and having the privilege of seing a market vendor in the Waverly and JFX communities was something that always kept me going. Thank you to our customers and neighbors in Patterson Park, I would not have wanted to open anywhere else or serve a different neighborhood. I always told our staff how lucky we are to have you as our customers, and they also found it to be true. I have told people for years: "we are SUPER lu… My heart cannot help but kvell (overtlow) with joy and gratitude at being able to serve Patterson Park. Living in the apartment above Pie Time, I have been able to see people taking their babies home from the hospital, watched them grow up eating Pie Time, and laughed when I saw them mimicking steaming a latte. The privilege and joy l have felt when people bump into each other or make new friends in this space cannot be understated. Thank you for being you, and all you do. While we search for a great business to take over this space, we will continue to operate our coffee service. We ask for your the transition. I will still be living be the sta te t committed to finding a tenant that is as excited to serve this community as we have been. I am sad and sorry that Pie Time didn't work out for the long term, and it will always break a piece of my heart to give up this space and what this community has turned it into. I am also relieved and excited for my own new chapter; the weight of a ayroll and everything a business needs not being on my shoulders when I swing my legs out of bed will be different and maybe wonderful. Your consumer dollars are a vote for what is around you, anc local coffee shops and restaurants are run by your friends anc neighbors. There is no magic behind small businesses, just peoplein need of your grace and support. Peace, Love, Pie, Max

Oh no, I asked Barbara, one of the organizers, what her issue was. She said she and her husband both needed to have a car, and the flex posts had taken away important parking spaces. Grrr
Imagine posting a picture of a child walking in a crosswalk and advocating *against* daylighting intersections Why this Petition? Our neighborhood has a significant history, ambiance, and wonderful "walkability," but using our streets has become increasingly dangerous. "Crossability" is simply hazardous-for the same reasons that plague other residential areas: increased traffic (car and truck) with irresponsible drivers. Crossing our residential streets is hazardous. All activities along our streets, no matter if it is walking, driving a car, bike, delivery truck, and now especially parking, need an extra measure of caution. For some time, a group of Bolton Hill residents had been trying to work with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT), primarily through the Bolton Hill Community Association (BHCA), to address traffic safety concerns throughout our historic neighborhood. This effort generally followed BCDOT's established seven-step process for traffic improvements, which includes community input and consensus from affected residents. However, in late 2024 and early 2025, a series of concerning incidents accelerated this process unexpectedly. Two accidents involving a car and a bicycle occurred near the intersection of Park and Lafayette Streets. Shortly after, another incident took place near Park and Lanvale Streets, where a car dropping off a child at a nearby nursery school was struck by another vehicle. In response, BCDOT unbeknownst to the community working group, narrowed both intersections and installed white flex posts. These changes have created perceived new road hazards themselves, significantly increasing the potential for collisions between all users. Furthermore, these options for safety are insensitive and conflict with the historic streetscapes of Bolton Hill. Importantly, BCDOT did not follow its own seven-step planning process. Planning had little to no communication on planning options and did not seem to follow the City's own planning manual and guidance for improving safety

It does appear right now he's an illegal alien. Mitchell: How can you tell by appearance? Bovino: You know, there's many different factors that go into something like that. It would be agent experience, intelligence that indicates there's illegal alienage in a particular place or location. Then obviously the particular characteristics of an individual, how they look. How do they look compared to, say, you? What's your name again?

The bike itself, sign with his name, and even the flowers placed at the site were covered with black spray paint. This disgusting behavior is meant to discourage and intimidate us. It does the opposite. Every day more Greenpoint neighbors are standing up and getting involved to make our community better, to make our streets safer, greener, and more resilient, and to support leaders that aren't afraid to do what's right. Those that are dead set on keeping our streets dangerous are so desperate and so angry that they are spray painting *flowers on a memorial* Don't forget it. There is so much beauty and solidarity in this place that we call home and we will never stop fighting for it.
