The construction guys on site cursed those panels. There was a lot of fettling required get them to fit over the sprayed concrete tunnel linings.

I worked on Crossrail 2. We hadn’t got to the stage of the aesthetics but the vibe was that it would have been much more functional and dull than Crossrail 1 for cost reasons. The cast concrete panels on CR are great but ££££

The engineers at LU tell me that the since the JLE was the first new bit of tube for decades that a lot of the architecture slipped passed many of the standards we have now. That’s a good thing! The LU standards can force things down quite a conservative route.
