There are a number of animals currently at Steve Kroschel’s Chilkat Valley facility that were left behind during the state’s spring raid. Kroschel and his staff estimated about 20, while state records show 14: five ermine, three arctic fox, three martens, two minks and a snowy owl.

Hundreds of Holland America cruise passengers found themselves holed up in the Chilkat Center in Haines after a convoluted day that included being rerouted from Skagway and then left behind when their ship had go find shelter from high winds.

Alaska International Senior Games champion Jim Green is in the final stretch of training.

Swimming will be his strongest event. After that is pickleball, table tennis, and then the 5k and 1500-meter races. Then discus, javelin, and shot put.
