People are basically good, and if we as a society provided everyone with a baseline level of comfortable housing, good food, and good healthcare, without fear for the future, life would be chill
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

What Republicans are pushing here is not a continuing resolution. In this case, C-R stands for Complete Resignation.

Republicans are ceding more discretion to two billionaires to decide what does and does not, get funded in their states.

It is a power grab CR. I will vote NO.

In occupied France, people would drop their used matches folded into a V, as a secret sign of resistance. People who opposed the Nazis would see them, knew they weren't alone, & felt emboldened to take action.

Some modern day equivalents here--small but powerful actions you can absolutely do:
Thirty lonely but beautiful actions you can take right now which probably won't magically catalyze a mass movement against Trump but that are still wildly important
Why? Because others will see you do them, and it will make it easier for them to take their own (slightly less lonely but equally beautiful) action by your side

People have been saying "call it fascism" lately and I just feel the general public may not have a clear picture of what fascism IS. It's not a scare tactic to use the word; it's descriptive.

The prison commissary system is such a ripoff it's predatory and awful and should be subject to way more regulation and oversight.

The Appeal's 9-month investigation uncovered prison commissaries’ exploitative, inconsistent systems with inside prices up to five times higher than in the community and markups as high as 600 percent...

All "Paul Blart" jokes about security guards aside, it's little frictions like this from everyday people that create a heroic resistance
The union representing thousands of janitors said ICE went to multiple downtown San Francisco offices but that building security kept them from entering, KTVU reports.

“Union president Olga Miranda said the janitors were relieved that someone spoke up for them.”

They suck! We’re mad at them! They are part of the everyone we mean when we say everyone deserves rights, dignity, respect, and safety!

No voting on who gets to be people
Even people who voted for this do not deserve to lose housing, healthcare, or food. I understand the temptation to think that when their actions hurt so many, but “people I do not like do not deserve to have their basic human needs met” is how we got here, and it will get weaponized against you

Note: Quakers were some of the earliest supporters of Sanctuary, even putting out a booklet on the topic in 1984 (it's still available). www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

Please remember that in the entire history of the world, "that's illegal" has prevented exactly zero crimes.

The law is not a forcefield that prohibits illegal actions. It's a list of consequences that *may* be imposed if you do the proscribed act.

"You can't do that" is just factually incorrect.

"But Democrats are [insert adjective here]" you say!

Sure. Probably! If *you* become a Democratic elected or candidate, or show up at party meetings + push, then Democrats become whatever *you* are. This is a fixable problem.
