Dpad can be emulated on the left touchpad, right stick can be emulated on the right touchpad. I think it'd be cool to have a smaller more trimmed down version as an option. It would basically be the minimum viable controller, but still give you the flexibility afforded by the touchpads.

I liked the og steam controller, but it unfortunately had kinda shitty hardware. felt cheap and my left touchpad had issues with the click

I really liked the original steam controller, and loved the built in controller for the deck. the steam controller is an immediate buy for me, I love what the touchpads do for games

Steam has almost no lock downs on what you can do offline at all, aside from if a game has additional DRM it uses. What Valve allows with steam would make a Hollywood executive have a heart attack.

This is wrong. You can have like 200 PCs all with the same steam account running games offline. Valve doesn't give a shit they won't stop you, but Sony you need to activate a specific console as the primary one to be able to play the games offline, a process that requires internet.

Yea, but keep in mind that the gamecube is ancient and also SC2 on the plussybox occasionally freezes.

My metric for the comparison is the plussybox barely runs SC2, meanwhile I can play Elden Ring on a Steam Deck

10x is probably a VERY conservative estimate lmao. I'd say the Steam Deck is at least 50x the power and this is supposed to be fairly stronger than the deck from what I heard
