We need to form a collective. It’s not me vs. you or Americans vs. illegals or left vs. right. It’s us vs. the rich. When it comes to policy, we can talk left vs. right all day. When it comes to humanity, it’s the middle and lower class vs. everyone.

Ask yourself why CEO bonuses have risen by 1000% over the last 50 years while typical worker compensation has only grown by 24% over the same time period. It’s not the Latinos who are stealing your jobs. It’s the rich who are refusing to pay you a decent wage.

They are politicizing us against each other because they do not want us to realize that it is the rich who are oppressing all of us. Do you really think the Mexican family down the road is stealing your jobs? No. They are working the jobs that corporations refuse to pay fair wages for.

I grew up in Houston, TX. There is a very tight knit community of all walks of life there. I guarantee that if they started ripping Latinos out of schools and churches and job sites there, it would be met with the same ire.

Ask yourself, why don’t you see ICE raids in Texas or Florida or Arizona or any red states with large Latin populations? It’s because they need the optics.

They are tearing our communities apart. Picking off Latinos at Home Depot, at school, at church, at immigration offices - places where they are contributing to society in a meaningful way. These aren’t criminals. If they were criminals, proven in a court of law, blue states wouldn’t have a problem.
