The Postal Redux OST is so underappreciated, I guess because the actual main game has little of it. But all the "mission" screens are hella dope dark ambient and the score attack/horde stuff is really great upbeat edm mixed with a metal pallete. Easy recommend.

A very underappreciated display of artistry from Tower of Kalemonvo. The whole game looks great as a Resurrection (heh) of Diablo 1's vibe and aesthetics, and the cover is a great throwback to gothic imagery blended with dark fantasy, kind of moreauesque in a way.

Raiden III is the spaghetti and meatballs of shmups. The fried egg and french fries. It's so mighty fine and yet at the same time not very flashy, very spartan in looks, almost unambitious. Sometimes you don't crave anything fancy but rather a good ol' cromulent everyday meal.

One of the things about cheesy 50s, 60s, 70s, and even 80s scifi stuff is that you frequently find some dumb plot about every day technology conspiring against your own free will by brainwashing you. In E08 case it's about glasses....

I also gotta point out that watching these shows on big modern displays decontextualizes some of its directing decisions. Specially the extreme close ups. They are like that because old TVs were small and probably with washed out colors. This show debuted in 71 and 60s displays looked like this

If you came from Shinjuku Triad Wars like I did, you wouldn't say it's from the same director. Miike made a much more polished, measured, less raw but also more stylized movie that is tight as hell with lots of memorable moments, lifted from the eponymous manga. 8/10
