I read Suttree in September (my now favorite book of all time) and started Absalom, Absalom! but I got really busy with school as I started reading it and didn’t make it in very far

The driver who takes their time sees these unfortunate realities, and carries the weight of the suffering they observe, but their knowledge makes no difference in the inevitability of their ending.

The speeding driver unknowingly passes by the blind malaise of street people and the crashes in those intersections fated for others, straight towards his own.

Should the inevitable crash come from those driving at reckless speed towards the intersection, or by those slow and cautious, who despite seeing the collision incoming, do nothing to stop their eventual fate?

The faux humbleness of those who say they know nothing of how the world works does naught to protect them from the indifferent casual cruelty the world bestows, it only muddies the waters with uncertainty.
