Absofuckinglutely
I did a little digging: Just in the House, there are 55 current Dems in Congress currently 70 years old or older.

@runforsomething.bsky.social has helped elect qualified + talented millennials & gen Zers to state/local office in 53 of their districts.

There is a bench. We are ready. Time to lead.
My hottest take is that every Dem in Congress over the age of 70 should announce now they're retiring at the end of their term.

That doesn't solve it all, but it'll open space for the next generation - and thanks to the bench we've built, there are incredible leaders in every state ready to go.

If we’re looking for an initial list of prospects… 55 House Dems are over the age of 70, and exactly 3 won their 2024 race by less than a 10 point margin.

Electoral politics is a relay, not a sprint, and we suck at passing the baton.
@meredithshiner.com's assessment of the Democratic Party is sadly spot on (as is her suggested solution: Run against them!). The most direct way for us change the party is refuse to wait for our collectively turn to lead. newrepublic.com/article/1909...

Where I’m from, whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting. What a dangerous waste of precious resources to back up stupid lies.

Good times.
In the absence of an organized and responsive Democratic Party, the person who has decided to fight the Trump Administration on something is *drumroll* Rupert Murdoch.

Will is makes excellent points here. I keep thinking about the last time the left felt really ascendant — when we owned an insurgent (but meaningful) chunk of the media ecosystem in the blogosphere!
Republican disinfo and bullshit ran rampant online this election cycle, and legacy news giants were powerless (or disinterested) to stop it. We must build a liberal media ecosystem ASAP—with one big change from how we've tried before. I just wrote a new piece—check it out: medium.com/@willbunnett...
A Liberal’s Guide to the Collapse of Neutral Media
Neutral news is accelerating the demise of its own relevance. With one change, liberals can succeed at building media to fill the void.

Fun fact: Often when you're watching something on Netflix, the data being streamed to your device is actually being hosted very locally by your ISP, through a program ISPs and Netflix designed to reduce bandwidth usage. That can't be done for live programming.

Does “advertising on X” in 2025 = “booking rooms at the Trump International” in 2017?
Advertisers set to return to X as they seek favour with Elon Musk and Donald Trump
