In this 3rd page of the report, you can see the references on which D Kayser worked with A Djourno that are relevant for the device implanted in 1957, indicating that she had contributed to the work background over multiple years. Unfortunately I don’t know anything else about her, but she existed!

D Kayser is listed on this and the previous report of the first cochlear implant (in March 1957 in Paris) as providing technical collaboration. Many women at the time were unable to complete PhDs of their own and worked in research labs as “Research Technicians” in order to be involved in science.

We also observed an unexpected effect where artificially increasing current spread (“blurring”) caused an increase in current spread towards the apical portion of the arrays, but not when applied toward the basal portion - possibly as a result of cochlear anatomy
