Such a great article topic!

And I’m both gutted about not having heard of any of the books (let alone read them!) AND excited to read them.

Wow; I’ve never heard about this before. The depths humanity will go… 😟

Thanks for sharing. New to me.

Interesting to reflect on what happened a month after its release (2003 Iraq invasion).

Listening with new ears today I’m saddened by it reinforcing the mad, bad and sad trope - while accepting that, sadly, it may always be true for some who go to war.

And if they get this cake at that age, what the hell will I have to do next year to elevate things?!

(‘elevate’ in a food sentence; I’m watching too much Masterchef! 🤦‍♂️😂)

I’ll start the trifle celebration with this Paul Ainsworth glory:

Sadly, the MOD has a history of downplaying the significance of equipment and practice-created hearing problems

And denying increases in hearing claims at DBS Veterans UK

Ie there were so many faults with Ajax that the hearing one wasn’t treated seriously enough

while, from the vehicle operator perspective, it was the vehicle’s most limiting operational factor (as said to me by one Ajax tester)

Ajax had sound issues all the way from its first build

“The Review found, however, that the significance and seriousness of noise and vibration as a programmatic risk was missed both by senior leaders and by the DE&S project team and Army programme team…”
