Tank Megatron and satellite soundwave work fine.

Alternatively, imagine how much funnier G1 would be if everyone was the same, but there was no mass shifting, like Megatron was just 7 inches tall in robot mode talking to massive plane and truck mechs. And just as strong.

No Mass Shifting. Plain and simple. Like Bayverse tried to be with size consistency initially. We can debate it's plot later. Megatron can be so much more than a gun. And Soundwave- he can be any number of surveillance vehicles or technologies. There's MORE options now.

I'll share screenshots of the Mirage Dump Truck thread because it goes into some of what I talked about. Once I started asking questions, I was taken out of the film. Just one editing choice caused this headache.
Anyways, say you want to avoid this, okay? [14/16]

Transforming made them cool, but without constraints (like "stay the same size") it's overpowered. One bot could kamikaze shrink to the size of atoms and turn into a black hole, or grow until they become an iron fusion star. Or just.. triple in height and stomp everyone.

How much mass can they shift? Can they go subatomic? How much mass can they gain? Can they achieve fusion? Transformers could fit armies in bullets to transport them instantly with the fire of a gun, massive space stations could transform into insects to vanish instantly.

larger to cross this ocean fast, smaller to enter this human's home, smaller still to ask a colony of ants if they've smelled decepticons nearby. Why don't they all just grow to be as large as possible in combat? Having mass shifting at all adds unnecessary questions.

What are the rules?? Why grow to one fixed size? Why shrink to one fixed size? What's stopping a 3-inch robot from turning into a truck the size of Manhattan? Why don't bots shrink and grow constantly to suit their needs? Taller for this enemy, shorter for this overpass,

Why limit Mass Shifting to big guys with tiny alt modes, or triple changers with different sized alts? Why can't a small bot turn into a city, or an army of Titans fit in a shoebox, or a mammoth turn into a USB to sneak into an enemy base, or micromasters turn into titans?

In All Hail Megatron most of the Decepticons openly use mass shifting just to be bigger and stronger. Cool. Devastator is like 400 feet tall and the cassette bots are like 50 feet tall. Why don't they do this more often? Why not use mass shifting more creatively?

In early IDW1 the constraint is fuel, it takes a lot of power to mass shift. Okay? Why don't you use it for something more effective than turning your leader into a gun then? Why aren't they making the most of it? Or saving it all for one all-out attack? They save Some,

Want to take Mass Shifting seriously? Let's take it seriously. "Serious" adaptations either don't talk about it or leave too many aspects of the ability a mystery, like why they only use it for stupid reasons. It is world-breakingly powerful magic.

Here's an A-10 warthog on a merry-go-round. The gun in his head should be larger than Bumblebee. He should be crushing the ride beneath him. Is this one even mass shifting or just a poorly scaled character? It's G1, It's all ridiculous. Intentionally, in many cases.

Shockwave is a laser gun that can grow to straddle a jet. That's a micro cassette driving that race car. They're putting a van inside another van. They're the same type of van. The noble leader of the Decepticons? He likes to have his lackey finger his trigger.

It's time for another thread about
𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚

Mass Shifting isn't a serious concept. Any attempt to justify it is silly. It doesn't make sense. Transforming makes sense. Giving random bots Ant-Man's powers is absurd and humorous. It fits the tone of G1 well

Men hate female Transformers because they hate the idea of women existing outside of sex. There's no sex as an obstacle in Transformers, so men (who hate women) have no reason to tolerate them anymore, and are free to fantasize about the planet just for men they already live in.

They kinda look like rubber ducks in alt mode. The robot modes are cute and they look surprisingly good for something so simple and gimmicky. They're well painted, more paint at least than earthspark and transformers one mainline toys.

I just think they're neat.

Some of the Rescue Bots toys made Zero sense.
There were one step changers that changed from bots to cars of which smaller versions of the bots themselves were inside driving. Is this like a Headmaster situation? Idk.
Ours is not to reason why, ours is just to simply buy.
