Lots to unpack recently on where the UK sits amidst a congested middle-power pack.

One advantage it could be in leveraging it's regulatory rep and the buzz around Stablecoins.

An American citizen!

They tried to deport an American citizen, detained him for ten days and lied about it to a judge, after badgering a mentally challenged *citizen* into signing false statements.

What if he had been vanished to El Salvador, unable to return?!

I don’t think US foreign policy land quite gets it.

Trust was broken long ago. Whether it’s supporting coups and dictators, to false testimony leading to invasion or even the financial crisis - trust in America has BEEN eroding, probably since before I was born.

WOW. One of the Venezuelans whom Kristi Noem tried to render to El Salvador's slave prison managed to avoid removal and was able to make it to immigration court, and you'll never guess what happened: THE GOVERNMENT GAVE NO EVIDENCE OF HIS GANG MEMBERSHIP. Due process ftw

Which is astonishing because Washington just doesn’t care.

The UK had actual say on issues in the EU and regularly utilised the force multiplying power of the bloc on the global stage.

Closer relations with the US just means vassalisation by an empire in decline.
The UK has always put first their relationship with the USA above the EU, always. I doubt things are about to change now.

I mean just don’t do it. At this point there is nothing to gain. It’s being used to divide and conquer and it won’t help at the next election.
