This is probably the most important piece I've ever written for @thedailyuw.bsky.social. The right to protest is one of the most important ones we have, and we only keep it by using it. Thank you to everyone, anonymous and not, who agreed to an interview for this piece.

We need to find a succinct way to shame the “why are you surprised?” and “I never liked [problematic person or business] anyway” posters on here. Nobody cares that you’re cleverer and more special than everyone else, and your blasé attitude serves no other purpose than to dampen the collective will.
RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

The 84th World Science Fiction Convention isn't all Anaheim has to offer for visitors!

For example, did you know that the city also has an entire amusement park themed around Walt Disney movies?

It's one of the area's hidden gems!

Meanwhile, every candidate endorsed by @thedailyuw.bsky.social's editorial board (in this case @amolson.bsky.social @kenzieroliver.bsky.social and myself) won!
Congratulations Seattle Times for a clean sweep in the 2025 election—for mayor, city attorney, and city council, all of your endorsed candidates lost!

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

It's not over yet, but this is a good sign for Wilson. Every vote counts. If you voted in King County, please check your ballot status at the link below. I've had my signature flagged in the past, and it was very easy to resolve the matter.

I know enough about how mail-in elections work that I never panic when the returns start to come in on election night. But I will say that the week after the election is always excruciating. It never gets easier.

This is because Intuit, Inc. gave Donald Trump $1,000,000 for his "inauguration." Intuit owns Turbo Tax, which makes money off charging taxpayers to file their returns.

The corruption is rampant and in plain sight.

Has your ballot been challenged? A significant number of ballots are in danger of not being counted. Don’t let your ballot be the one that tips the election to Harrell!

"This [moment] has left some with the feeling that the cheapest, most craven campaign strategies end up being the most successful. In meaningful ways, Mamdani’s campaign was a case study to prove whether a more optimistic and human approach could work in our political moment. He proved that it can."

Maybe you forgot to sign your ballot, or your signature didn't quite match the one on record. If you received a signature challenge letter and have questions, we have a web page for that.

Folks who need to resolve a signature challenge have until 4:30 pm on November 24.

This means that there's at least another 116,700 votes to count for Seattle.
🚨 🚨 As of 6:00pm today, King County Elections is reporting that turnout in the City of Seattle has reached 52.06% with 253,988 ballots received. That was a VERY big increase from ballot drop box votes yesterday, compared to the updates we were seeing earlier today.
