As of November 6 2024, I stopped being a citizen of the United States of America, because it fell to fascism. Now, I am a citizen of the global democratic community that is in part facilitated by the United Nations.

Place National Guard in harm’s way for no good reason. Two members are tragically and unnecessarily shot. The reckless regime’s response: We’re sending 500 more National Guard troops! What a disgrace.

The more we see of nationwide results, the more yesterday feels like a referendum on Trump. One that he lost, badly.
NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.

It came as Democrats flipped 2 Senate seats and 1 House seat.

“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the party says.

I don't know how I would be handling America's fascist coup without the many, many friends of mine who have remained willing to talk about it, listen to and read what I have needed to say about it, and more this year. There is no win for fascism in my daily life.

The ones who need the federal government the most are the ones Trump and his masters are hurting the worst.

That's an abusive relationship, in my understanding.

Like too many of them, this one is lethal.

Fearful of what's ahead, grateful to be able to say this here, hope you're doing well too 👍

Sad to me to see how easily the murder of somebody relatively unknown has been politicized by America's dictator. He and his enablers have no scruples in manipulating their followers, it seems. Fascist dictators generally don't, I guess.

Whether you like or dislike what’s said, free speech is at the heart of our democracy.

Protecting it should be one of our core missions as a nation.

If there were ever a moment for the so-called “free speech warriors” to speak out, now would be the time.

When the writer I hired, Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by Saudi Arabia, they paraded me around as a symbol for press freedom.

weird that neither of these articles two main stories decrying censorship mention WaPo's firing of @karenattiah.bsky.social I guess democracy really does die in darkness
