I am curious what power to stop anything people think they have when the GOP is specifically using methods that only require a simple majority?

Nah. The article says the lead author and another researcher not involved in the study feel the relationship is actually stronger than the metric used to gauge the strength of the relationship indicates. I will defer to them on that one since they know the rating process and I don't.

Where in the study does it say there is "strong" evidence? My quick scan of it in both the executive and the discussion sections said weak relationships and that more study would be needed to determine anything.

Doesn't the article say that was untrue?

So...you can write code to scrape the content for the model, but not one to reach out to the creators first? Seems lazy.

Curious how long it would actually be available for use. Before it could be used officially they would have to do all the security and defensive add ons. Then remove them all before decommissioning it for private use.

Well then you're talking about breaking laws. Which means you don't actually stop anything because you broke the law. So unless you are going to go full revolution and overthrow the elected government you need to find legal ways to stop things.

Our main problem is that we also elected complicit Legislative bodies. Individual legislators have limited options but Congress has power, just not the desire to use it.

Has nothing to do with that, no jurisdiction means no authority to arrest. Anyone detained would just be let go.
February 8, 2025 at 4:14 AM
Because that is what gives them arresting authority. Otherwise, it is kidnapping. I mean if you are saying start working illegally to overthrow the elected government, that is your call.
Not sure how much of a "coup" it is when the legally elected officials are the ones doing it.
February 8, 2025 at 4:11 AM
Many of the groups you mention don't have jurisdiction, meaning no authority to do anything. The FBI needs warrants from the DOJ but again both run by the executive branch.
February 8, 2025 at 3:56 AM
Standing is pretty straightforward. What is the legal argument that they have standing? What did the judge miss?
February 8, 2025 at 3:42 AM
Because it is the executive branch and the DOJ that arrests people and prosecutes people for illegal acts.
February 8, 2025 at 3:09 AM
My question is...if it no longer exists do I still owe them money?
February 5, 2025 at 10:29 PM
Well that could be interesting. To my knowledge, Executive branch employees do not have the same exemptions from using insider information that legislators have.
February 3, 2025 at 11:13 PM
Genuine question...it is my understanding that the confirmation process is different and only simple majorities are required along the way. Do I have this wrong?
February 2, 2025 at 7:01 PM
So none. 😜
February 1, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Genuine question...what power or mechanism does he have available to him to slow them down?
February 1, 2025 at 4:01 PM
The facts shape the narrative, and the context is already there. It is history, it has already happened, you can't change it. You can be wrong about it, and your understanding of it can change when new facts are learned. But history itself is immutable.

You can't "shape a narrative". Either what you profess happened...or it didn't and the facts will bear that out.

But once again Jackson was the real killer. 2-0 early would have been a big difference.
January 25, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Yeah he retreated when he shouldn't have a couple times in the first half and then over compensated.
January 25, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Uhm...isn't history factual. How can there be a "conservative" paper? It either happened or it didn't...right?
January 25, 2025 at 6:37 PM
See the inauguration? If only there were free streaming services with channels covering it...oh wait.
