Our plea to ecological interation network (EINs) researchers and managers/decision-makers to _explicitly_ integrate the science into practice! Yes, there's is a LOT of uncertainty, but we've come far in our knowledge about EINs and have far more data than before. The time is NOW

Grant-funded labs are incentivized to admit students who already know how to do research to serve as cheap labor. That puts students who’ve had the most access and resources at a major advantage. This shapes admissions practices more than people are willing to admit but yelling about testing is easy

Trophic interactions did it again ;)
Why ignoring them is a bad idea for conservation

Why ignoring them is a bad idea for conservation
@ctrlalttim.bsky.social
Natural forest regeneration is hailed as a cost-effective way to restore biodiversity and sequester carbon. However, the fragmentation of tropical forests has restricted the movement of large birds limiting their capacity to disperse seeds and restore healthy forests.
Tropical forests can't recover naturally without fruit eating birds

I'd expand to librarians, libraries and library contents! We're seeing a decrease in book accessibility more and more and it is worrying! Have we learnt nothing from history books? Oh wait, some of those are "inappropriate" too...
This is your weekly reminder that librarians must be protected at all costs. Nothing but love for librarians and libraries.
The library board “fired the library director for refusing to move or remove 113 books that they feel are ‘inappropriate.’ The rest of the staff did something heroic in solidarity with their colleague: they walked out, locked up the library, and said No to this unethical board action.”
