As critics claim Raise the Age is failing, the real failure lies in how it’s being implemented. The system is failing vulnerable youth- they receive little to no supportive services in their community, and no education support once jailed. It is time to ensure support for young people.

Mr. Z is an immigrant father who lost his parental rights after his infant son was removed from his care due to his wife’s disability. His son was placed in foster homes that did not share the family’s language, and Mr. Z was unable to communicate with his son.
