It's been great seeing all the positive reviews for The Devil's Promise on Goodreads and Amazon. Quite a few of them mention the ending. It was a bit of a risk, but I'm glad the surprise is resonating with readers.

Some great reviews for The Devil's Promise are coming in. Glad that it's being so well received.

"I can't even think of words to describe how good this book is, was really not expecting to fall in love with a new series."

Huge thanks to @rzsantos.bsky.social and Austin Bat Cave for inviting me to participate in their Story Department event last night. The speakers were all fantastic and it was a ton of fun!

"The end of The Devil’s Promise packs a punch, and if you can avoid spoilers for this book then I suggest doing so. At this point Hurtado has proven himself to be a master of surprise twists within twists..."

Big thanks to Heather T. for this wonderful review. Link to full review is in comments.

Love this excerpt from a recent review of The Devil's Promise. Erasmo Cruz, the main character, is only 17, but this book goes to some dark places.

The awesome Lydia Peever has a great review of The Devil's Promise up. From her description:

"A young adult horror that speaks to seasoned fans of cult and occult horror like few can; Hurtado outdoes the first book in this series with a stellar sequel."

THE DEVIL'S PROMISE is out now! Erasmo Cruz takes on a client who is convinced he accidentally made a deal with the Devil.

"A wildly enjoyable horror adventure. Riveting...Hurtado has written a book that demands to be devoured."—Gerardo Sámano Córdova, author of Monstrilio

The immensely talented Gerardo Sámano Córdova had some wonderful things to say about The Devil's Promise. (If you haven't read Monstrilio yet, you definitely should!)

Sometimes I think that because @ghoulish.bsky.social wears so many hats in the horror community, his writing doesn't get as much attention as it should. Abnormal Statistics is uncomfortable and thought-provoking, as good art should be. One of the best collections of the year.

The Devil's Promise releases in just a little over a month. Over the next few weeks, I'll share some of the great blurbs it's received so far. The first is from none other than the handsomest dude in horror, @lphernandez.bsky.social.
