Finally had time to start Kinophobia tonight!! The gameplay so far as been me standing in a haunted reception area for an hour reading letterboxd reviews on my phone - which as a huge fan of fictional fiction, I am loving! Excited to get deeper into it.
My Ectocomp game, KINOPHOBIA, has been updated with various bug fixes and improvements; if you haven't played it, this is a final-polish version. Now that the jam is over, I've also set it to pay what you want, so you're welcome to pay me... if you want...

Recently got time to play A Case of Fraud by @hesperusgames.bsky.social! What a delightful several hours of evidence-poring-over and blank-filling-in. The office drama was relatable and entertaining, the pet angle charming, the end of the game nice and challenging. Highly recommended!

Some additional updates to my pokemon-inspired narrative deduction game, My Friends the Monster Trainers, today - I added sound and music, saving progress to local storage, and various smaller fixes.

I'm going to write a devlog about it too! Tomorrow.
This #LudumDare 's narrative deduction game: stuck at home while your friends go catch monsters and battle trainers, can you complete your Monster Tracker with deduction alone? Follow the story and search for tricky clues in your friends' letters.

Final small The Daily Spell update before a busy holiday weekend - I added some extra pages peeking out to give a bit more visual balance to the newspaper heading. Laying the game out has been a little tricky because of how wide the puzzles are! I'll keep playing with it.

I added an archive page to my daily puzzle The Daily Spell! 🪄

My goal is that each week is its own chapter, so solving the whole archive isn't required - you can jump in any time.

This week's story just started if you want to try it!

Good thing to do if you're a terrible procrastinator: set short deadlines with external accountability.

Bad thing to do: set a recurring daily deadline for a small, hard task, so that you can suffer every single night. 🫠

Writing next week's puzzles for The Daily Spell is going fine, though!!

One thing I've been thinking about is that database games are not purely an exercise in applying your understanding to unlock more info - I also really enjoy the element of serendipity, where you can stumble on a search result that you had no idea existed, that gives you all new things to look into.

A beautiful genre chart! 🤩 I definitely think grouping by features is more useful than a simple in or out, and this gives a lot to interesting classifications to ponder. Great stuff for fans of these areas!
