Finally saw the worst perversion of The Punisher ever. Tell me you know nothing about Frank without telling me because that man would ruin you for this.

So we are going to hand over CD2 to the GOO so someone can satisfy her ego, when she doesn’t bring anything to the table, won’t win over voters on the right, and will depress turnout on the left? Situation normal. Cool cool cool.

/4 People may disagree about where the line is between “capable of productive discourse” and “propagandists and Nazis.” Your Nazi circle may be wider than mine! Or narrower. That’s fine. But pretending that there’s no line - that everyone should be platformed as a good faith thinkers is idiotic.

Really worth watching this. Rep. Bill Keating is clearly feeling a little out of his depth here—not quite sure what to say, not quite sure how to react—but he sees work that needs doing, sees a stand that needs taking, and so he just does it. He just does it. Right on.
Texas Republican Keithself storms out of the meeting he's supposed to be running because a Democrat asked him to treat his colleague Sarah McBride with respect. These people would not last one day as a trans person.

seeing how poorly mainstream/neolib Dems are responding to this moment is like being tied to the trolley while an out of control train is coming and watching people who could pull levers to stop it instead choose to hold up little signs saying "please stop"

I hate that wellness got co-opted by the right because there really is a good conversation to have about our food systems and what goes into foods that could be harming us, but instead of passing regulations on food companies like other countries it’s going to be “you can’t buy snacks with SNAP”

People underestimate the subtle roles gov workers play. How many small businesses are supported by one partner being a gov employee providing healthcare to entrepreneurs? How many coaches and scout leaders are gov workers? These jobs are so important to communities and families.

We fought a revolution so as to never answer to a king and I’m an actual DAR in case you needed to ask someone who has the extraordinary privilege to have genealogical records to prove it.

This is one of my fave pics of us bc she was always such a good sport. We were headed to the Twins and she didn’t even know what was behind us. She should be 77 today and I miss her every minute. Fuck cancer and the admin killing life-saving research. At least she’s not here to see that.

There’s a scene in the 2024 movie Civil War that has stuck with me - the four journalists happen upon a town that is actively - or perhaps passively - choosing to ignore the chaos around them and it’s creepy AF. And like much of that movie, feels plausible and prescient.
I've said many times: there are millions of Americans who do not consume any kind of news. No cable news, no radio, no podcasts, no newspapers. They don't even read any kind of news articles on Facebook. They may catch an occasional headline or overhear a conversation about events, but that's it.
Too many people on here seem to believe there are exactly two kinds of Americans: ardent politically-obsessed Bluesky users, and frothing MAGA cultists.

There are a LOT of people in this country who *just don’t pay a lot of attention one way or another*.

And we absolutely can reach them.

I spent the last two days at a summit for leadership in my professional field frustrated by the focus on the work of running chapters (yes, important) with nary a minute devoted to discussion of what is happening in our country and the very real and profound nexus to our work. Heads in sand.

Wait, so, it’s realistically tied and the DFL gave them speaker and committee control? Okay, cool. Cool cool cool.
The Minnesota House’s three-week impasse ends with a deal that makes Republican Lisa Demuth speaker of the House for two years and gives GOP temporary control of committees.

The radio silence from our state executive branch and agencies continues to be disappointing, enraging, and cowardly. Except you, @agellison.bsky.social. No support for the queer community. No broad stands for DEI in all its definitions. I thought MN was a refuge state.
