As a DSP engineer it bugs me that upsampling images using a better approximation of the ideal LPF (rectangle in frequency domain) looks worse compared to a simple nearest neighbor (sinc in frequency domain). I guess human vision doesn't favor blurriness.

None of my TVs growing up had discernible scan lines. I'm confused why that's such a popular upscaling filter. If I wanted a nostalgic filter, I would go for something that looks like this. Do filters like this exist?

The delta-sigma ADCs have a reputation of being the most advanced but once you know basic signal processing and control theory, they're actually relatively simple devices. So simple that you can even implement one in Falstad.

The last three designs I attempted this with were basic MCU projects I thought 😭 Maybe I'm getting unlucky. E.g. I wanted a parallel 5V NOR Flash and this is what I get when I sort by stock. Just curious, is stock this low the norm when using their PCBA and my expectations are off?

This is one of those little details on which much of Fourier analysis is based that is probably not understood by most people using it.

It has happened. Little run of 15 custom carts completed. Next time I'll need to use stencil and an oven 😅 Sending out to all the album collaborators in the next few days. Thank you!

The Super MIDI Pak Collab album will be released Friday, July 11th at 3PM EDT. All tracks play natively on the SNES and we're distributing a ROM and SPCs. We're doing a listening party at that time on YouTube, link in the replies!

As we get close to the album release, I was digging into the old graphic assets for Super MIDI Pak. Here are some of the early logo mockups I made 😂

PSA: if your square wave samples look like the latter and not the former, you are not using real square waves. Sampling band-limited square waves always results in some ringing in the samples, no matter the phase of sampling or the sampling rate.

I refuse to use eBay and I don't have Facebook but I have 3 WD retail 1TB drives and 3 "white label" 1TB drives available. Thoroughly used but working well without any errors. I'd rather not e-waste them, so I'm fine letting them go for the cost of shipping.

I'm used to block modeling in the digital domain but it's possible to use it for analog electronics too. These two models represent the same system! The traditional circuit model is probably easier to understand but the block model makes it explicit that this system has poles.
