Just another author creating science fantasy worlds filled with tragic heroes, complex magic, a dash of romance, and of course, a bit with a dog. She/Her
Day 2.

I have been doing my best to channel rebellion-era ROTJ Luke Skywalker energy all day.

This is the marathon I’ve been struggling to train for, the one I had emotionally prepared myself to DNF after years of health challenges… and I finished it! All 26.2 miles! It was this Herc’s slowest marathon, but Pegasus and the pacer group we joined at Mile 21 got me through.

Hello, lovely people, new friends and old friends.
I write stuff. I paint stuff. I geek out about stuff. And I’m currently gearing up to run my 9th full marathon this weekend at the ripe old age of 49. Let’s hope I make all 26.2 miles! In the meantime, check out my books.

Three years ago at the stroke of midnight on NYE, I released my debut novel into the world. Here’s to my third anniversary of being a published author, and Happy New Year!

Just in case you’re seeing me for the first time and have no idea what sort of stuff I write, I made one of those trope-y thingies for my two epic science fantasy novels: fantasies with sci-fi elements, tragedies with uplifting endings, and epic adventures with relatable characters.✨

Not going to lie, but of all the stuff I have done in Procreate over the last year, this book release composite using Frank Fradella’s amazing cover art for SONG OF THE STARBORN and my own original closeups of Olivia, Mal, Phoebe, and Casey is one of my favorites.

Indies and small press authors are out there working hard all year, so now is a great time to buy those books that often get overlooked! You never know when you might find your next favorite read! 💖☺️

Grateful for this 5-Star review on Thanksgiving morning, and I’m excited to announce that the ebook editions of both THE SWORD AND THE SPARK and SONG OF THE STARBORN are priced as low as Amazon will let me make them now through December 27th!

I love painting my book characters and finding different ways to capture the key players in my stories. For this, I layered monochromatic paintings over the complete text of the first POV chapter for each main character in The Sword and the Spark: the hero, the princess, the orphan, and the ghost.

I’m desperately trying to keep up with new follows and posts, but these two new additions to the family have kept me busy and exhausted all weekend. Introducing Leia and Kylo, a hilarious and adorable pair of Havanese half-sibling puppies.

Oh, hi again! Since I still have no idea what I’m doing on this app, here’s some original Star Wars fan art while I figure it all out. I’ve only been painting fan art since March, and I haven’t done much of it, so most of it is all wonky, but may the Force be with you anyway! 💖

Took pretty photos of my book today that work really well for Halloween but are thematically appropriate all year long. 😁

“You must become who you were meant to be, alone and strong, never to die until the Grace of Starlight takes you.” She placed a kiss on his cheek and whispered, “Long live the emperor.”

A moment of prophecy in my Macbeth-inspired science fantasy, THE SWORD AND THE SPARK.

Finished up this portrait of one of my main characters from THE SWORD AND THE SPARK early this morning, and I’m taking the title from Shakespeare, “Uneasy Lies the Head That Wears a Crown.”

This shattered mirror took a lot longer than I expected it to, but it was worth it.

Don’t mind me. I’m just trying to get back to the whole indie author thing after putting everything on hold this week. I like this original graphic I created, though, using a discarded painting in which I was experimenting with creating simple glow effects with an airbrush. 😊

Howdy, folks! I’ve got a lot on my mind, since my mom is hanging out with me at the blue dot, but her house is the gray dot, and Milton isn’t playing around—so proper introductions will have to wait until after the storm. Or when I’ve had a few drinks (like porch Skelly). Or something. Anyway, HI!
