Absolutely correct. So much of the discourse around restoring trust in the institutions is focused on decorum and civility theater. But why would anyone trust the institutions if, after the horror show that we are suffering through, they yet again fail to impose some measure of real accountability?
Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

I’m thinking the Dems need to run on nothing less than remaking American democracy.

End Citizens United, totally reform the corrupt and broken SCOTUS, a new voting rights act, ban gerrymandering everywhere.

And give Trump figures who broke the law fair trials, and ban them from federal jobs.

🤬🤬🤬
Senators look at Trump's shameless corruption and say "give us some of that"
Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

Let *this* be the future of the Democratic Party.
Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

And they're living it up with dancing girls at Mar-a-Lago and drinking bubbly at the new Café de Rose Garden and hitting companies up for Trump's opulent ballroom and squeezing a 747 from Qatar and selling watches and crypto and sneakers and otherwise making a mint.

It shouldn't be hard at all.

"All of these candidates who won last night didn’t shy away from talking about gender equality and LGBTQ rights. They didn’t buy the theory that doing so would alienate young men. And they were right. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Mr. Carville."

Do not be bullied, cowed, or shamed by bad-faith right-wing actors and MAGA that are blaming "liberals" and everyone who isn't MAGA for Charlie Kirk.

Call them out for their hypocrisy. Go on offense. They are fine with political violence and mass shootings when it's against the rest of us.
