Big Sunday describes themselves as not just as a service organization, but as a community-building one, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to give back. We were so proud to partner with them and share in their joy.

With support from our office, hundreds of volunteers come together to pack over 4,500 meal bags for families across the city. Smiling faces filled the space as everyone joined in to pack bags, contribute to community art projects, reflect on gratitude, and meet new friends and neighbors.

This week, joined by her friends and colleagues, we adjourned Council in memory of a true Angeleno — Melanie Winter. Melanie passed away last month after a battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a hole as wide as the river she loved so dearly.

Today, we stood up as a Council to say ‘our people are our City.’

In a historic vote, the LA City Council moved to amend the City’s Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) for the first time in *40 years*— significantly decreasing the burden on renters to meet the economic realities of our time.

Today, we honor the lives and legacies of our veterans. Thank you to all who have bravely served, and to all the families that have sacrificed for our country.

As we navigate a tumultuous economy, it is our responsibility as housing leaders to make it not just enticing but also sustainable for investors to want to take on projects that can address our City’s housing needs.
November 11, 2025 at 12:34 AM
Joined by fellow housing development advocates, we discussed how we can create that "culture of yes” and how we as a city can facilitate the housing production we so desperately need.

Last week, I had the opportunity to dive deeper into this theme at the Valley Industry & Commerce Association’s 37th Annual Business Forecast Conference.

Since first being elected to office more than four years ago, I have been laser focused on creating a city that enthusiastically says YES to housing. We do this by creating more trust, more transparency, and more predictability for both developers and residents.

Showcasing P-22 bridging both the natural and man-made world, and navigating the space and dangers in between – Matano’s design is a beautiful ode to the improbable life led by our beloved mountain lion.

While we received so many incredible submissions in response to our artist's call, one proposal stood above the rest and we are thrilled to announce local artist Adam Matano has been selected to bring his rendering to life.

If there’s one thing everyone in LA can agree on, it’s that the rent is too high.

While we've updated some policies, the City of Los Angeles has not updated the actual formula that caps rent increases since the Rent Stabilization Ordinance was created over 40 years ago.
