T-cell #leukemia often comes back after treatment. The STAT5 protein helps #cancer cells survive treatment, but drugs that target it are too toxic for people with leukemia. With @src-crs.bsky.social support, Johnathon Lucas is seeking new ways to target STAT5 that could yield less toxic treatments.
September 10, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Christian Kassa is studying an aggressive form of #ProstateCancer that currently has no standard treatment. He is examining the processes that help #cancer cells survive and whether drugs called CDK inhibitors can disrupt these processes, improving outcomes for people with this #cancer.

Immigrant Black women have lower #BreastCancer screening rates and may have more aggressive disease than others. With support from @src-crs.bsky.social Adejoke Adekanmbi is working with these women to understand why they may not be screened and make #cancer screening more accessible for everyone.

With support from @terryfoxresearch.bsky.social Natnael Abate is studying how cells repair damage to their DNA. Many treatments damage #cancer cells’ DNA, but repairing this damage can help cells resist treatment. Studying DNA repair can reveal new ways to block it, making treatment more effective.
