I am saddened by how our nation has treated Canada. I asked an online Canadian friend for a food bank in Canada that I could support. He suggested www.kvfoodbasket.ca. Please consider supporting them.

The Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket offers a food pickup service. Pickup is available either Tuesday morning or Thursday evening.

The pleasures of the rich are often acquired by the tears of the poor.

I volunteer at a local food pantry. Recent gov't changes mean we will get less food for the hungry.

Cincinnati's largest foodbank will lose $2 million from a federal program that allows it to purchase from local farmers.

I guess we must sacrifice to pay for the tax cuts given to the rich.

According to the World Inequality Database, since 1970, the world is 700% richer (as measured by GDP per capita).

The average person's income has increased by about 8% during that time. Meanwhile, the top 0.01% of earners have seen their incomes rise by 4000%.

What could possibly go wrong?

Competition is the primary cornerstone of capitalism.

I wonder what things would look like if we built our economic system based on cooperation instead?

Decades of research from the Harvard Study of Adult Development reveal that the quality of our friendships is the strongest predictor of longevity. Great relationships w/ friends means a longer life.

Is the same true w/ countries? Great relationships w/ allies means the country lasts longer?

What a strange thing! Many scoundrels try to disguise their dirty deeds by their dedication to the interests of religion, or by their high morals, or by love for their motherland.

There is a time for everything.

This is a time to mourn w/ those who mourn.

In 1925, Mahatma Gandhi published his list of Seven Social Sins. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

• Politics without principles.
• Wealth without work.
• Pleasure without conscience.
• Knowledge without character.
• Commerce without morality.
• Science without humanity.
• Worship without sacrifice.

“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.” Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently.

You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.

Ohio State beat IU by 23 - then No. 1 Oregon by 21.
Notre Dame beat IU by 10 - then No. 2 Georgia by 13.
IU won the other 11 games on its schedule by 33.5 ppg, and beat Michigan ... which beat Ohio State and Alabama.

Conclusion: No more nonsense about #iufb not belonging in CFP.

Excessive focus on individualism has resulted “single-issue groups and special interest organizations to ensure that whatever else happens, our own personal views and our own private interests are protected.”

While the elites of college football whine about being excluded from the CFP and condemn IU for being included, has anyone considered the possibility that Notre Dame is REALLY good? #iufb

Indiana University has been playing football since 1884. They have a record of 516-713 with 44 ties. No other college has lost so many games. (Kansas is next in line with 663 losses.) Hoping we win tomorrow!

We look back at the Underground Railroad with admiration. Brave men and women broke the law to free slaves.

Will history look back at us and commend those who helped immigrants remain in our nation?
