FWIW, my thinking on this was that having both a 5 hour closure in the morning/early afternoon and a 5hr closure overnight would shorten the long construction timeline. But maybe bridge construction is not the limiting factor compared to some of the other parts of the project.

Yeah I get that, but couldn’t they do work on the actual bridge part - i.e. between Long Bridge Park and East Potomac Park - overnight? Sounds like they’re foreclosing that possibility even in the non residential segments of the project.

It’s ridiculous that (according to the linked information) they can’t do construction between 7PM-7AM in the middle of the Potomac River. What resident is going to be kept up at night by loud construction there… beavers? Are there no exceptions to that DC ordinance?

Is that Rialto Beach!? I’ve got a near identical photo (just bluer) from this March.

Did this from Locust Point to Fells Point last week (before biking over to Camden Yards). It was great - can’t beat the views on the water.

Thanks for your coverage as always. Tough night in Nashville for the few of us who made the journey. Changes have to be made.

And then the playoffs, right? 😅

Sorry you had to watch that too.

Any hope that D.C gets quality reinforcements (e.g. a #10 DP) this window?

I had the same Q and saw David put this out in April www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

“For abundance to be a useful framework for transportation policy…. externalities must be taken into consideration. That doesn’t always happen in abundance discourse, and it shows.” 💯
What Would ‘Transportation Abundance’ Look Like?
Fans of the abundance movement say that adding supply solves big problems in housing and health care. But when it comes to getting around, things get complicated.

Gorsuch suggests that the Supreme Court is effectively discriminating against Native faiths and favoring mainstream religions by allowing the government to destroy a sacred Native site. (I certainly agree that SCOTUS tends to favor Christianity over all else!) www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...
