Nobody cares I guess that the wind blows in one direction here; the sunshine can’t overcome it - nothing can. the anvil of time is measured in the sounds of trees falling before rain, plowed under like so many blades of grass: miscellany, & glitter, is all that’s left in the tattered corners.

An open door, a perishable good that tastes like grief - is it lead and saltpeter, burning tires and the crisp snap of a flag awakening - or is it salt and thin pieces of meat curling like wood shavings onto our floor, broken black potatoes split haphazard on a road to somewhere from another place?

The sound of an empty space isn’t anything happening in that space. The sound of vacuum is one of departure, a shrieking at the incomprehensible horror of a sudden nothing. Existential dread has a beat you can dance to.

I’m reading the Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolaño and am loving the poetry of the book as well as how strange it reveals people to be, in everyday situations. Every scene is written in an economy of language that doesn’t feel economical. Brilliant book.
If you see this, quote it with what you're reading this weekend!

I'm reading Wanderers by @chuckwendig.bsky.social - awed by its prescience and giggling at every new description of Pete... animated collection of broom handles, closet full of wire hangers.

I'm reading an e-comic of Star Trek Lower Decks by @ryannorth.ca @chrisfenoglio.bsky.social @heatherantos.bsky.social where the crew creates a holodeck Dracula and Boimler loves capes. It perfectly captures the show's voices!

It’s all a void, screaming a vacuum emptiness that you fill with blood and evaporating hope waiting for the sunrise. Doomscroll away.

Imagine if you will a place where login procedures include shaving your kiwis into the shape of keys - actual physical keys: this provides the user with true security as the decay rate requires replacement in a very few uses. Sometimes one. Planned obsolescence meets art.

The current is: screaming in the shower until deafness settles; waving multicolored scarves through a pretend sunlight named after your long dead friend; eating rice and eggs for dinner because the tumbler of the world is too full outside your door; cats grumble-purring on hot radiators; rain again.

Edward Pleasant was quite the peasant pheasant. No matter where he went, his money’d be spent: the people all loved to see him. In his pockets there rang incontravertable twang, the clacking of piles of no-see-um.

Ultimate Hedgehog, part 1:

I don’t remember being born. I remember being alone. Open space. A sharpness of cold, pain, and bright, short barks of sound. Thunder was gone, warmth was gone. I wallowed in heaviness. There was imbalance, a lack of closeness, dimension. I experienced time. Again, new.

According to my daughter, reincarnation offers us the possibility of coming back as the Ultimate Hedgehog.

I’m now writing a story about the Ultimate Hedgehog. Mostly because I want it to be true, somewhere.
