We are pleased to hear from the Lord Mayor that the other Story Bridge shared path is reopening. What continues to be not be explained is how the LNP - Liberal National Party controlled council allowed the state of the paths to degrade to such a state they were no longer safe.

In space conscious Japan they have underground automated secure bike storage.
No reason why Brisbane could not do the same at multiples locations.

In this article by Felicity Caldwell of @brisbanetimes.bsky.social
, Cr Wines claims that BCC has spent more than a "billion" on active transport infrastructure but the question is was all of it council funds?
Many BCC have been co funded by the State or Federal Government!

After allowing the structural safety of the Story Bridge shared paths to degrade to such a condition they were no longer safe, it is positive to hear from Lord Mayor Schrinner that one path with the temporary surface will be open to foot & bike traffic before the end of the year.

Brisbane City Council is yet to grant development approval to HSW's proposed changes to the site.
The CBD BUG has submitted an additional submission relating to the latest round of documents.
The proposed path remains non-compliant with TMR & Austroads guidelines.

It is good to hear that the Story Bridge paths are receiving a new temporary surface for reopening.
This new path surface is only temporary or as 9 News Queensland described it, only a "band aid" solution as the existing path surface below will remain & continue to degrade.

Just a little reminder people will ride to the train if there is somewhere safe and easily accessible to park their bike.
Coomera Station, Gold Coast line.

We are pleased to report that after over a decade of advocating for bike racks to be installed within sight of the RBWH main entrance they are finally in!
Being within sight is critical for passive surveillance of one's bike

Brisbane City Council has asked for feedback on the future of Kedron Brook.

5)Changes comply with TMR guidelines.

Beware of doors
Recently one of our followers was a victim of a dooring. Please be careful when riding past parked cars. It is very difficult to see whether or not a vehicle is occupied and a door can swing open at anytime.
If possible, please remember to ride clear of parked cars.

With the opening of Sydney's Oxford St Cycleway, Lord Mayor Clover Moore proves what a pollie with courage and conviction can achieve.
This is once again a reminder of how little progress Brisbane City Council made in recent times when compared with
City of Sydney!

We are pleased to report after contacting
the Lord Mayor, Urban Utilities has now rectified the surface of the Elizabeth St CityLink cycleway.
While not perfect is is now much safer!

As part of HSW application to change the site it is argued HSW doesn't need to upgrade the existing shared use path to segregated path as they will provide an unobstructed 6m wide shared use path.
This is how the existing shared use path was being used this morning!

We are pleased to report the Melbourne St protected bike lanes now OPEN!

Consultation on Sylvan Rd being provided with safe, protected bikelanes closes TOMORROW!
We do not want Sylvan Rd, to be like the NBB where a few influential people stop a project that would benefit thousands!

Today's council meeting has now begun in which the petition calling for the sub standard HSW shared use path to be upgraded to a safer, higher amenity segregated path it will be presented.
As if on que, today HSW once again used the active transport corridor as a truck park!

Today the petition calling for the sub-standard shared use path through HSW to be upgraded to a safer, high capacity, high amenity segregated path goes before the Council chamber.
Will the local councillor Vicki Howard speak up for a better path or remain silent?
June 16, 2025 at 9:18 PM
It appears certain Brisbane City Council councillors will be passing the buck on responding to the petition calling for the current HSW shared path mess to upgraded to a safe, high capacity segregated path.

Thank you to everyone who signed the Story Bridge petition to reinstate foot & bike access across the bridge.
1700 plus signatures will hopefully result in a very considered response coming from Lord Mayor Schrinner & his fellow LNP councillors.

Story Bridge Petition closing today.
Lord Mayor & his councilor's have flat out refused to temporarily reallocate some road space to people on foot & bikes while the shared paths are repaired.
Please sign the petition to change their minds!
