Strategic planner looking for some healthy debate about all things planning & development, local government & politics! Will also be hoping for some music chat on this thread!
Following approval of recovered appeal on Brighton Gasworks by @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social the council has had full costs awarded against them. The letter from PINs is v robust & makes clear that no. of objections is not a planning consideration-it's the substance of the objection that matters

I've been updating my slide showing what the Gov has achieved since last July through planning reform to boost housing delivery. Given the mess the previous Gov left @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social has delivered a huge amount on all aspects of the housing ecosystem & it is beginning to pay dividends

One of the nice things about going to Latitude every year is that we stay in beautiful Southwold (no, of course I don't camp!). #Southwold #Suffolk

Strategic planning is definitely back judging by the party last night hosted by Prior+Partners. Strategic planners emerged from the dark places they've been hiding in for 15 years & celebrated its return together with those that'll be needed to make it work.Time now to get stuck in & make it happen

2 weekends in a row with my cowboy hat & my favourite cowgirls - Zach Bryan @bsthydepark.bsky.social last week (who was awesome!) & Country on the Common this weekend with home grown bands Ward Thomas & @theshires.bsky.social. I love London in the sunshine! 🤠

The Government's new 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy has loads of spatial planning content. It really is beginning to look like we have a joined up Government for the first time in a long time! Well done @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social, Angela Rayner and @darrenpjones.bsky.social

Back to the 80s at Hampton Court Palace Festival last night where Bananarama sang all our favourite hits. The girls have still got it! So lucky to have this venue on my doorstep!

That's a wrap on a whole week of conferences speaking about strategic planning - it was definitely the key topic. Finished today at Hatfield House for the POS conference where current President Peter Geraghty handed the reigns over to Karen Shaw. #Strategicplanningisback with a vengeance

Another week at my happy place on the Isle of Bute. Did you know that the island has a community owned forest, pub (fab!), orchard & garden. Every beach has free toys to use. It also has its own beer & gin as well as a brilliant butcher with home reared beef & lamb. What more you could you ask for?!

The Government is bringing back an effective approach to strategic planning. On Friday a report will be published by @Prior+Ptnrs which aims to help the Government & all those involved in making the new system work. I'm so proud to have been involved in this work! #StrategicPlanningIsBack

Last week I sat down with Thames Estuary Envoy, Kate Willard, to discuss the Government's plans to reintroduce strategic spatial planning & what this could mean for the supporting growth in the Estuary. It is an exciting time for planning thanks to @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social!

Who doesn't like a bit of Paul Young & Steve Norman on a Thursday night chatting about the 80s & singing some tunes. And there was pizza! @pizzaexpressuk.bsky.social Live, Holborn

New Mayoral Strategic Authorities announced with winners shown on my map. Disappointed for Kent as this would've balanced things out across Thames Estuary where there's already a London Mayor & a new one for Essex in the DPP. Surrey is to have LGR fastracked to allow it to move to a MSA. Great news

First gig of the year and it's one of my favourites Brothers Osborne!

In anticipation of seeing the brilliant Paul Young in a couple of weeks, #vinylsaturday is dedicated to No Parlez, one of the seminal albums of the 80s
