I find myself thinking of Winston Churchill these days. Pre-WW2, he was seen as an over-the-hill buffoon, drunk and depressed. What he did have though was a piercingly clear view of Hitler and the Nazis. We need allies now with that same moral clarity; be a Pritzker, not a Hochul.

One massive weakness of society is how poorly it assesses the risk of potential problems that have been preemptively prevented. It's why we get dopey comments like, "Our food is so safe; why do we need the FDA?" Hopefully we don't experience the same with nukes as Elon shoots wildly in the dark.
