What's lost when we lose staff, departments, programmes and faculties in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and what's that got to do with organ donation?

Amid the looming losses faced by Cardiff, Edinburgh, Lancaster, Leicester and Nottingham (among many others), here's a worked example. 1/8

It’s not at all clear to me how the BBC can do any kind of serious journalism if its top two bosses can be forced to quit over such an obviously confected scandal. There is no substantive error here. How can the BBC report on Trump, or Farage, or anyone else, in these circumstances?

twitter being bought and turned into a propaganda machine for fascism, which is directly pumped into every journalist in the world's brain, is one of the worst things to happen in the last few years. we might not survive it.
I'm guessing the BBC 'scandal' has been big on X this week as this was the first I had heard of it...

Apart from a few angry posts on here, why will this be cost free? Where’s the stigma gone? Was it ever a genuine one? Have social norms or the rules changed? This is far from the first time he’s written or said something like this and he’ll be on the BBC again soon.
He’s not really trying to hide it. It’s open, unapologetic racism; let’s be plain about it.

Okay, I can't hold it in anymore. It's extremely clear that Taylor mixed up The Lady of Shalott with Hamlet's Ophelia, this is why she talks about a tower and talks about "seeing it all" because they're both famous paintings of red head woman and water.

What I think this demonstrates is 3 things (1) This mass deportation policy is wildly at odds with public opinion in general, and with opinion of many sensible Tory voters, members & MPs (2) Many ppl defending the policy didn't know what was in it (3) Informing and pressuring them therefore works
Are the Tories now rowing back on ILR?

Last week Badenoch's spokesman said Katie Lam's comments were "broadly in line" with the party's stance

Now a party spokesperson says it's “subject to an ongoing internal review” following a widespread backlash

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.

Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.
