That makes a lot of sense. The death penalty is an extreme comparison, I will admit. And it’s probably correct that drivers are of more rational minds than murderers, on average…but man are there some outliers on the roads.

It would not be simple and I think the GOP would love to have a centralized way to fuck with the numbers.

EVs weigh more and contribute less to road funding so this sounds like a good way to fill that gap.

Don’t studies about the death penalty show that it doesn’t work as a deterrent? I don’t know why this harsher consequence would succeed. And frankly, death is already a potential consequence of reckless driving and people choose to do it.
Nevertheless, getting them off the road is good.

I had this idea that he was gonna own the haters by turning that plank into a nice little shelf but no, he bought it and was done with the gimmick. Disappointing laziness and lack of imagination, but not surprising!
