the attempt by the attorney representing Rebecca Slaughter to use Trump v. United States for good is going sideways hard and it is making me even more confident in my opinion that there's no real upside to using Republican legal doctrine

It doesn't help that the American idea of 'individual freedom' has always been profoundly anti-democratic.
The only way to assure individual liberty is to hand unprecedented governmental power to the guy engaged in blatant democratic backsliding

We learn that 'take care' means 'don't do ridiculous things' in a third-grade English as a second language class. Only the most terminally lawyer-brained would interpret 'take care' as anything else than that.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

매우 동의합니다. 애초에 (안 키워도 되며 당장 취업을 할 수 있는) 어른들이 일하러 이사오겠다는 건 막으면서 노동 인구가 줄어든다고 투정부리는 데는 인종차별 말고 다른 이유가 없어요. 기후난민이 심각한 문제가 되는 상황에서 난민과 이주민을 거부하면서 출생율에 집착하는 것은 인종차별의 결과이자 성차별의 원인입니다.

Tolerating these bad faith parlor games, devoid of an attachment to actual history or the plain meaning of words, as paths to elite success in legal academia & the federal judiciary was a grave mistake. We need to stop doing that & never do it again.
During ratification of the 14th Amendment, senators discussed whether the Citizenship Clause would apply to the children of immigrants and resoundingly concluded that it did. The text and history all point in one direction and the counter-arguments are patently fraudulent. I am going to lose my mind
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.

저는 처벌이 이루어지지 않은 학교폭력 피해로 고등학교에서 끔찍한 첫 2년을 보냈고, 이 가해자들 중 일부가 교수 등 accountability 없는 관리직 직군으로 취업한 것에 정말 큰 우려를 가지고 있습니다. 위력을 이용한 학교 폭력의 가해자가 교수가 되어서는 안 된다고 생각해요.

저는 자유방임주의를 각국의 국가안보에 대한 위협으로 간주하여 대처할 필요가 있다고 생각합니다. 민주 국가의 전복을 모의하는 이념인 만큼, 이런 이념을 홍보하는 단체들은 내란 선동에 준하여 규제하고, 정치권에 영향을 미치려고 할 경우 내란 음모에 준하여 처벌해야 합니다.
이 사건 결과예측 잭슨 빼고 다 맞췄는데... 어디 보낼 수 있게 되기 전에 결과가 나와 버렸어요.

이 사건 결과예측 잭슨 빼고 다 맞췄는데... 어디 보낼 수 있게 되기 전에 결과가 나와 버렸어요.
