Excerpt from a Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones fic I'm working on. Artur/Cormag. Today, the work was ruthless. Each degree of skin that Cormag bares is battered; stippled twilight blue and violet, sickly yellow. His knees are a mangle, scraped raw, and a fraying linen bandage chokes his arm. “Look at you,” murmurs Artur, hands fluttering–but Cormag only shakes his head. “‘S alright,” he vows, passing his palm across the stiff shape of Artur’s shoulder. Artur follows the touch like a sunflower, sighing. “I don’t like to see you hurt.” Cormag softens, as he tends to do in Artur’s company, as stones tend to do in a riverbed. He looks as though he wants to speak, but if there are words for this melancholy, he’s never been taught them.
