As many of you know, I do a lot of volunteer work with asylum seekers and refugees. One thing that’s going on is that Labour’s hostility towards migrants and the counterbattery from Tories and Reform is causing horrific fear and anxiety among vulnerable people who deserve our protection.

It feels so often like the majority of the country has entirely erased the experience of Covid and airbrushed away the horrors we were up against. We can’t learn from the mistakes if we forget
It wasn’t a choice betwn lockdown and “normal life”; it was lockdown or 10s of thousands of deaths. Our responsibility @independentsage.bsky.social was to keep the public and vulnerable gps safe. We worked evenings. We invited the public to ask us Qs or share concerns every Friday live on YouTube.

A little over a year ago I was in Texas, where I preached a sermon for an explicitly inclusive Episcopalian church which had made its home in a strip mall - we don't have them in the UK but it was just like those you see on TV, a parking lot with glass fronted units beside an enormous road.
