It’s also the husband’s 30th birthday week so I’m not cutting back on acid-y foods/drink BUT I have discovered the culprit of the major flare up, and decided it’s 100% a new allergy.

It’s matcha.

The matcha I’ve been drinking for YEARS. The matcha I LOVE the process of making.

So my GERD seems to flare up as an indicator that I’m allergic, and when it’s so bad, it doesn’t generally settle for a few days.

Past couple of weeks I’ve been having flare ups again, Sunday was particularly hellish; up from 3am, catching an hour of sleep here and there, TENS machine etc.

TMAU is meant to have minor symptoms, but as with all autoimmune disorders (metabolic disorders are autoimmune disorders), one can cause another…

Long story short, I develop allergies randomly and it’s extremely irritating, but never deadly, thankfully. Only shellfish causes anaphylaxis.

Honestly all I remember is that phonics changed (my nursery nurse mum complaining about having to relearn them for two weeks is burned in my brain).

I just know at home my mum wouldn’t directly help, would make me sound every part of a word out then send me to the dictionary if I didn’t know a word

American literacy is mind blowing, the way they teach people to read is wild. And the way we *used* to teach people to read/write here explains every local Facebook comment section I’ve ever read
