This is something I run into all the time when workers call me about their concern that companies are disciplining them arbitrarily. Somebody wants to force you out of your job and is taking steps to make it unreasonable for you to comply with their demands; it is what it is and you can't stop it.

It’s also worth noting that the clear message to STEM faculty is that they aren’t the targets, and that they are currently getting caught up in Trump admin funding woes bc of their activist humanities colleagues.

In Feb. 2018 following the first Buzzfeed article, Krauss emailed Epstein.

Krauss: "I wonder if I will ever really recover.. I wish they would indict Trump or something right now.."

Epstein, providing more advice: "break the charges into ludicrous. ogling. jokes. . etc. ."

if you try to hold literally any giant shitty company accountable for literally anything (ripping people off, spying on Americans, whatever) you have an extremely high chance your complaint will be bounced by either Trump circuit courts or the Supremes

we are in for some very very big problems

Right?! As someone at one of these places, this is exactly right. Some people will leave. Some will retire earlier than they might have. Some will leave academia. But most will stay. The damage done is going to be a lot more complicated than “everyone left, nobody took a job in TX.”
