Found a small friend on the beach, had a photo shoot 🦖✨

Seems incredibly fitting that as I sit in the @wgfoundation.bsky.social library reading a crisp-as-hell copy of The Boys pilot signed by Kripke himself, I hear that my horror pilot made it to quarterfinals of the The Great Pitch comp. Damn right I won’t be giving up. Onward & upward & so on 🔥

Day 16 was a double feature for me! I watched Werewolves Within, which I'd never seen before, and which was an almost perfectly balanced comedy-horror directed by Josh Ruben. Loved it.

Also rewatched The Black Phone in advance of seeing the sequel later in the week. Just as creepy as I remembered.

For day 15, I watched Vivarium. It wasn't for me.

Day 14 was another rewatch of the South Korean zombie movie, Alive. You'll just have to imagine the hashtag in front of the title, because I don't want to summon a stream of bots by hashtagging a seemingly random word.

Big fan of this one. Highly recommend.

I got extremely behind on updating this series of posts, so I'll start a new thread from here.

For day 13 I rewatched They Live, which was probably a bit of a lazy choice seeing as I very recently caught a screening of it at my local horror movie night... but honestly? It's a classic for a reason.

Stay safe today, friends 💜

For day 12, I watched The Menu. Another one I managed to remain unspoiled for, despite it being out for three years. This felt like the horror-comedy answer to Knives Out in a lot of ways. Liked it a lot!

For the 11th day of spooky season I went to @screamfest.bsky.social & watched 22 horror movies 👁️👄👁️

I can’t fit everything here (though I’ll update my Letterboxd later) but The Red Mask & Redux Redux were A+++ features, & Very Prosperous Men, Remnants, Isolation, & Imago were my fave shorts!

For day ten I watched Azrael. This one wasn’t for me, unfortunately. The story, characters, and world building just didn’t feel strong enough to justify a complete lack of dialogue. That said, the chargrilled demons with built in blood-radar were fun!

Day nine: tonight I watched Strange Darling! People have been recommending this movie to me and telling me not to look up anything about it for a while damn year, and I’m so glad I finally did. Loved it. Highly recommend.

Day eight: seeing Nobuhiko Ôbayashi’s 1977 horror/comedy, House. I technically haven’t watched it yet, but I’m in the theater waiting for it to start, so wanted to post before I forget. I know very little about it, so I’m looking forward to whatever is about to transpire!

Day seven: I finally got around to watching Presence! Really felt like more of a drama that happened to involve a ghost than a true horror movie, but I really loved the ending. Glad I went in unspoiled!
October 8, 2025 at 12:56 AM
For day six, I rewatched a forever fave: Donnie Darko. Genuinely cannot believe that this movie is 24 years old. Time is fake.

I keep forgetting to add to this series of posts, but I had a blast watching Abigail on day five! Goofin' vampire shenanigans. (Side note, as a Supernatural fan I'm always struck by an overwhelming sense of "our girl Claire is all grown up!" whenever I watch something with Kat Newton in it 😌)
October 8, 2025 at 12:38 AM
For day four of my spooky season marathon I rewatched The Dead Don't Die, which is honestly a really fun, weird zomedy that I think people were unfairly critical of when it came out.
October 5, 2025 at 7:07 AM
Just one horror movie for day three: rewatched Late Night with the Devil. Still really like this one, though I can't stop mentally referring to it as The Tonight Show with Cousin Greg. (I can't possibly be the only one who sees the resemblance.)
October 4, 2025 at 7:04 AM
Forgot to post day two's marathon viewing! Watched Color Out of Space, which was visually cool as hell--especially toward the end--though I'm still not sold on the story. Followed up with Talk to Me, which I've been meaning to watch for ages, and definitely hit all the what-the-fuck buttons.

Brilliant but harrowing article on a phenomenon that keeps occurring with zero tangible consequences for the companies responsible.

This part feels especially important to highlight:

Kicked off day one of my spooky season horror marathon with a couple of classic rewatches: The Shining and Night of the Living Dead. Absolutely top tier after all this time.

Finished a new short, wrote a few pages of pilot A, polished off another short, and edited the outline of pilot B! A very productive day at the Writers Guild Foundation’s Autumn Write-A-Thon—plus I won a copy of Dead Poets Society ✨

Thanks @wgfoundation.bsky.social staff for such a fun event!

The only rapture I care about is season four episode twenty of Supernatural ✨
