Applying for academic/research jobs frantically during Trans Awareness Week means I would like for people to be just aware enough for one of these *looks increasing @ pile of emails* many job applications I've sent in to shake out.

If companies know that the government will union-bust for them, they won’t even need to consider bargaining in good faith anymore.

Oh, how much has Air Canada fallen (from once being a publicly, federally-owned corporation).

Shame on this government. Shame.

Canada’s Liberals hate unions.

It took them less than 13 hours for @pattyhajdu.bsky.social to force arbitration upon Air Canada flight attendants— the very same people currently facing dozens of hours of *unpaid work* every month— and resubjecting them to these same working conditions.

Fascinating how it’s always the fault of alienated voters and never the fault of those who knowingly and needlessly alienated them.

Vancouver council is debating a giant permanent sign that says "VANCOUVER", and staff say an issue is putting the sign in a place that won't interfere with film shoots.

In other words, a giant "VANCOUVER" sign could interfere with vancouver's lucrative business of pretending to be any other city

Unpopular opinion, but the trans sports debate has been an effective wedge issue for the right because for most of our “allies,” support was always about them feeling good rather than developing any empathy or knowledge.

Any responsible jurist should have a healthy disrespect for the law.

One that accounts for human rights, democratic values, and foundational tenets. This includes acknowledging that genocides, forced disappearances, arbitrary government actions, etc. must be stopped at all costs.
This may be one of the worst moments in history to fetishize the law or the quality of being law-abiding.

This is the real point.

If you’re going to say that it’s black humor, you better be moving mountains at the council table. You better be constantly held back by your colleagues when you try to make motions.

If you’re not, I don’t give the same benefit of the doubt.

This is a great point. For example, when I look back at the epochal changes of this past January, I would personally have voted not to confirm Marco Rubio
We often look back on the seminal moments in our history and wonder "What would I have done?"

This is our moment. This is our time.

We must stand up. We must speak out. We must do everything we can to stop a President who has every intention of destroying our democracy.

The best option would have been to not implement that agreement at all.

The second best option would have been to repeal it prior to this year.

The next best option is to rip it apart now.

No economic or political concerns should supersede human rights concerns. Ever.
