'Red, and red again. 🥵 The temperature anomaly forecast for the next 14 days across Europe is overwhelmingly red — meaning well-above-average values. Especially in central parts of Europe, temperatures may reach record-high levels. Winter is nowhere in sight for Europe. 🧐'

We live in interesting times.

Here's another view of the record low Arctic sea-ice thickness, showing all the monthly values since January, 1979, as well as the 12-month moving average.

While the yearly minimum for Arctic sea-ice volume has been relatively stable for the last 15 years, this year saw a new record low for Arctic sea-ice thickness. By a lot.

What's going to happen in 2026? The Climate 8-ball is skating on thin ice.

Here's a new graphic that shows the running average for Arctic sea-ice extent, 1989-Present. The record low was set in 2021. As you can see, extent is just barely into "Code Yikes!" territory.

Will we see "Code UFB!!!" in 2026? The Climate 8-ball is sitting on its hands.

This is a big deal - an alternative to plastic that is actually better than plastic
Big Oil are investing billions in even more plastic that is destroying both human and animal health
They will fight to stop this
We no longer need plastic
This 3-ingredient film made from food waste may actually beat regular plastic packaging
The next-gen bioplastic invention surpassed the abilities of some conventional plastic packaging in repelling water and oxygen

On November 22nd, the planet hit 1.81°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline, making it the warmest November 22nd on record, and likely the warmest November 22nd in the last 120,000 years.

Hot times ahead.

This is a big deal. The reduction in sulphur emissions from ships means clouds aren’t as reflective and persistent, so the warming from greenhouse gases is not offset as much. So, while this change is very good for air quality, it’s very bad for almost everything else. #climate
A second opportunity to examine the cloud reduction effects from shipping fuel pollution measures has revealed that the 80% cut in sulphur emissions reduces cloud droplet formation by 67%.

The last advance of this glacier (1983-2008) is now just a very distant memory! 😰

The final agreement from COP30 doesn't mention fossil fuels, argues we are only 80% of the way to 1.5C, sets out an insane timeline of GHG reductions, and mentions 'a rapidly narrowing window.'

The COP is dead and burried. And COP30 was the final nail.

If our years ran from November to October, 2025 would be the second warmest year on record.

Probably in >100,000 years and potentially much longer.

Sea Surface Temperatures are now likely already higher than during the Eemian warm period, when global sea levels were ~7.5m higher!
