With the holidays just around the corner, we wanted to let you know that we are planning a fun Digital Advent Calendar for the month of December! We will be posting a fun surprise from the 1st-25th that includes reveals, BTS concepts/artwork, teasers, promos and much more!!
A good the of thumb is to save new words or terminology for things that we don’t really have a single word for, but this society would. Calling a year an “arc” is arbitrary, but if you have a very long lived species, they might have a single word for a timespan of multiple centuries.
One of the best worldbuilding guides you can read is Tolkien's notes on translation, where he talks about the fact that *everything* you write is in practice being translated into English; is is no more anachronistic to use the word "September" than it is use the word "sword" or "house" or "hello".
Not sure how I feel when a book tells me that instead of "12 months" they have "10 arcs," which are each 40 days long, and they all have names like Blossomarc, Flamearc Snowarc,.... I appreciate the world building, but couldnt we have just kept the calendar the same?

Comics writers and artists — please request your favorite colorists and letterers when working on a new project with a publisher. Can’t hurt to ask. (And if you don’t really care who letters/colors your work…that’s disappointing on a lot of levels.)
