One hundred and fifty one children under the age of 18 have been arrested between January and October, with a steep increase beginning in May.

Journalist Jasper Nathaniel shares an update on Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, the 16-y.o. American freed from Israel’s Ofer Prison after more than 9 months. Ibrahim only learned he’d be released 2 hours before, didn't know a ceasefire was in place & is still recovering from severe starvation & illness. ⬇️
Just got off a video call with Mohammed. A surreal moment. He told me he’d seen the video of me rummaging through his bedroom drawers lol. I asked if he’d had any idea about the effort to free him; he said no. He knew literally nothing about what was happening in the outside world. Didn’t know the “war” ended. He didn’t even know he was getting out until two hours before his release. He’s pretty gaunt, and his stomach is still too shrunken to eat much. Seems like he’s in a bit of shock and it’s still settling in that he’s free. Lots of smiling, though. Since getting out on Thursday, he’s only left the house twice: (1) To visit the grave of his first cousin, Sayfollah, who was beaten to death by settlers while Mohammed was in prison — something he only learned after he was released. (2) To visit the family of Walid Khalid Abdullah Ahmad, his 17-year-old friend and cellmate, who collapsed and died in front of him in prison from a combination of starvation, dehydration from untreated colitis-induced diarrhea, and untreated infectious disease. He says the next visits will be to the families of other children he befriended in prison. And yes — my mom joined the call (and cried). We’ll get together IRL soon! I have some incredible news to share. Today, after 9.5 agonizing months, Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim was released from Israel’s Ofer Prison and into his father’s arms. The Israeli military had no right to take him in the first place, and the family credits the relentless grassroots campaign that kept up the diplomatic pressure to free him. He’s in rough shape, but okay, and on his way to the hospital for treatment. Once he’s discharged, his mom, dad, brother, and sisters will have his favorite meal and a very belated 16th-birthday celebration waiting for him at home. I’ll share more details soon. Now that Mohammed is free, the family is asking all his supporters to keep fighting for the hundreds of Palestinian children still unjustly trapped in Israeli military prisons. The family requests privacy for now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone — lots to be thankful for.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.
II. Credibility The Court next addresses the credibility of the parties’ evidence and witnesses. After reviewing all the evidence submitted to the Court and listening to the testimony elicited at the preliminary injunction hearing, during depositions, and in other court proceedings, the Court finds Defendants’ evidence simply not credible. [FN 6] Plaintiffs submitted a mountain of evidence, providing the Court with over eighty declarations, numerous videos and articles, and other evidence. Defendants did not rebut anything that Plaintiffs set forth in their declarations or testimony, even with BWC footage. [FN 6] In another case considering some of the same evidence presented to this Court, another court in this district also found that the perceptions of certain of Defendants’ declarants, such as Hott and Parra, were not reliable. See Illinois v. Trump, No. 25-cv-12174, 2025 WL 2886645, at *5 (N.D. Ill. Oct. 10, 2025) (noting a “troubling trend of Defendants’ declarants equating protests with riots and a lack of appreciation for the wide spectrum that exists between citizens who are observing, questioning, and criticizing their government, and those who are obstructing, assaulting, or doing violence”), motion to stay denied in part, 155 F.4th 929 (7th Cir. 2025).

Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.

New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Thompson said in a statement “Mobile Fortify is a dangerous tool in the hands of ICE, and it puts American citizens at risk of detention and even deportation.” He also said “ICE officials have told us that an apparent biometric match by Mobile Fortify is a ‘definitive’ determination of a person’s status and that an ICE officer may ignore evidence of American citizenship—including a birth certificate—if the app says the person is an alien. ICE using a mobile biometrics app in ways its developers at CBP never intended or tested is a frightening, repugnant, and unconstitutional attack on Americans’ rights and freedoms.”

A witness in our case had ICE reject all her documents after using facial rec on her.

For her, tho, it seemed like nothing could make them accept that she has a right to be here.

Either way, a gov policy of not trusting gov-issued docs is going to violate lots of people's rights.
I told the officers nearest to me that I had all my paperwork, including my U.S. Employment Authorization Card, my Social Security Card, my Florida-issued REAL ID, and my Mexican Passport. 14. The officers walked me to my car and retrieved my paperwork. 15. The officers reviewed my paperwork and used what I believe was facial recognition to confirm my identity. 16. At first, they seemed satisfied, but another officer (who appeared to be a supervisor) said that they could not trust my paperwork because “the Biden Administration made a lot of mistakes.” After about 20 minutes in zip-ties, the officers decided that they would not let me go, and they replaced my zip-ties with handcuffs and shackles around my legs. 18. I was in shackles for several hours before the officers finally told me that they were “giving me a second chance” and let me go.
