I’ve made comics for The New Yorker, MAD Magazine, Disney, and more! Check out my MWF strip at GoComics.com/curses
Today I went to my daughter’s school to help her disguise a turkey. She wanted to make hers a heavy metal singer.

Meet Gob Halford, lead singer of Judas Feast.

Maybe this is the candy corn talking, but I watched Halloween III: Season of the Witch today and I really enjoyed it.

Just got back from CXC! (Well, not *just.* I fell asleep for three hours after I got back.) Anyway, here’s my comics haul!

I think when you drive into Ohio you should see a sign that says Ohio, but when you drive out there should be a sign that says Obyeo.

My favorite thing I learned at CXC this weekend is that none of us cartoonists are working at a desk like you often see cartoonists depicted. We are all doing this on a couch with something mindless on the tv. And a lil’ snack nearby.

Reminder for those in the back:

No honest man need fear cartoons.

…or comedians.

My SPX haul! I’m telling myself I need to reign it in next week for CXC, but I probably won’t.

Probably the last zinnia bouquet I’ll get from my garden this year

Who’s going to be at SPX tomorrow?

Do I have any French-speaking friends? This sticker was on my son’s laptop from school. He’s been doing Duolingo French and he *thinks* it says “it’s successful,” but what’s successful? The dinosaur’s death?

One year I’ll stop hopefully searching the shelves for Cadbury S’creme eggs. Unfortunately this is not that year.

My daughter, who likes scary stuff, asked to buy a Creepshow coloring book at the comic book store (no she has no seen the movie.) She opened it in the car and I was wondering why both kids started laughing hysterically…

Today I took my daughter to a local farm to pick peaches. We spotted this pig in the orchard so we let the farmer know she had escaped. Apparently she gets out daily, eats fermented fruit until she gets wasted, then stumbles home at night. Good for her.

there's an episode of The Simpsons where Marge tries to get a violent cartoon pulled from the airwaves, only to discover that the people backing her aren't going to stop at just the art that *she* doesn't like, and that supporting artistic freedom means accepting discomfort.

It aired in 1990.

I don’t care what city I’m in. I’m yelling “O” during the national anthem.

My husband and I just saw Green Jelly play in a crust punk bar in the middle of nowhere, PA, and had the best time.

Also, I just wanted to share that I saw Ozzy perform at Ozzfest in 2001. Honestly, I remember Manson’s performance more than Ozzy’s, but by the time Ozzy went on I was probably stressing about how I was going to get out of the hellscape parking lot that is Jiffy Lube Live.

So the school district where I teach has banned the graphic novel Flamer, by Mike Curato. I’m incredibly disappointed and it sets a bad precedent for books going forward.

I can’t tell you how much I hate Careless Whisper by Wham! When I did my student teaching my mentor teacher had a cd that was just different 12 different versions of Careless Whisper. He played it all day, every day. Nothing else.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

Hi, #portfolioday

I’m a New Yorker cartoonist who recently parted (amicably) with my agent. I’m looking for representation, jobs, publication, or maybe a pat on the head and a cookie.

You can see more of my work at www.carr-toons.com

My daughter and I visited the Brandywine River Museum today to see their exhibit on Barbara Shermund, one of The New Yorker’s first female cartoonists. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.
