I see it come up a lot, and tbh I think that the reading of 1984 of "It's just the UK that's fucked up, everywhere else is normal," is a very disingenuous way to see the world of the book. Like, how can you see a government that controls everything and think "clearly they don't control everything."?

Somehow I did unusually well at some of the daily-type games today.

As much as I love how Olympic city looks and feels, what is up with the shortcuts, or are they "longcuts"? Like, why are so many of them so much slower than the normal road? It seems kind of strange from a game-design standpoint tbh. At least taking them tricks the AI into going down them as well.

Stardew Valley has done immeasurable harm to the cultural understanding of agriculture.

The urban decay in Need for Speed: Underground is really striking to me. Some of the level design of the city is almost apocalyptic in nature. How are thing so bad in the world of Need for Speed games that the Vancouver, Canada stand-in can give Detroit a run for their money? Much to think about.

I'm sure everything is completely normal outside. It's absolutely nothing to worry about...

The Cybertruck really does exemplify everything wrong with our current society. Its rejection of aerodynamics represents a rejection of nature. Its bulletproof glass represents the atomization of fearful individuals. Its metal exterior represents a culture that only looks to the past for guidance.

Something I find interesting about gaming is how, at any given time, somewhere in the world, there's almost always at least one person who's playing some obscure game that's over 20 years old.

Here's the cars I used to beat the game. With the Mazda Roadster I was going for the "Neko Racing" car (Samantha's car) from Need for Speed Underground, but I ran out of vinyl slots for the side cat vinyls. They really need to increase the slots from 40, or at least add more shapes to work with.

I've gotten around to Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025, and defeated all the rivals (yes, ALL of them), and I have to say, it's pretty good. It's true to the roots of the series, and the driving feels good for an arcade-racer. It's still in early access though so there's no ending, but they're working on it.

Underrated trope: when a character gets a big cut in their arm or somewhere but when they look they see wires instead of blood, and it turns out they're a robot this whole time
