IDEA: Ask your library about their policy on AI-written books. I asked mine here in Quebec (@banq-officiel.bsky.social) and the short answer is that while they prioritize human writing, there's no definitive way to weed out AI.
Letter in French from Quebec's national library, the BaNQ, in response to a question on their policy on AI-written books. "L’identification des livres générés par une intelligence artificielle nécessite de la vigilance. Les plateformes qui sont utilisées pour la sélection et l’achat des livres ne distinguent pas forcément les humains des intelligences artificielles. Les critères de la Politique de développement de la collection de la Grande Bibliothèque favorisent toutefois l’acquisition de livres rédigés par des humains, notamment : l’importance et l’autorité de l’auteur, du créateur, de l’illustrateur, de l’éditeur, du producteur, de la collection; l’exactitude des informations; le signalement dans des bibliographies, index, revues ou autres sources reconnues. Lorsqu’une bibliothèque s’abonne à une plateforme de diffusion de livres numériques pour laquelle le modèle d’affaires est un abonnement à un catalogue complet, l’ajout des livres générés par une intelligence artificielle se fait à l’insu de la bibliothèque. BAnQ, comme d’autres bibliothèques, poursuit sa réflexion."
