Researchers have tagged more than 400 monarch butterflies and are following their journeys on a cellphone app (and you can too). They are using a tiny solar-powered radio tag that weighs just 60 milligrams and sells for $200 (monarchs weigh 500 to 600 milligrams).

I've known Aziz for nearly 25 years, and I'll never forget the morning I heard his name announced as a Nobel winner. He was on my wife's PhD committee, and I ran to tell her the good news. An amazing scientist who may come across as gruff at first, but who genuinely cares for his mentees.
